Jack Kennedy - Rest In Peace

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that original Alastair Greene Band bass player Jack Kennedy passed away the morning of Tuesday, August 6th from a heart attack at the age of 60.

Jack was not only the original bass player for the Alastair Greene Band (1997-2007) but was the original bass player for the legendary Santa Barbara based blues bandThe Pontiax from the early 80s through the mid 90s. The Pontiax did multiple tours of the United States and Europe and released the classic blues record '100 Miles To Go' in 1989. That album was re-released on CD by Delta Groove Records in 2004 as 'Mitch Kashmar & The Pontiax'. During the 80s and 90s The Ponitax backed up a who's who of blues legends passing through Southern California including Lowell Fulson, Pee Wee Crayton, Jimmy Witherspoon, Big Joe Turner and many more.

You can hear Jack on Alastair's first 2 CDs 'A Little Wiser' and 'Live In L.A.' (2001 & 2002) as well as the CD 'Frank Goldwasser w The Alastair Greene Band' (2006). Jack and Alastair were members of Aynsley Dunbar's band in 2002 and can be heard on the album 'Mutiny' released in 2007. Jack toured with the Sugaray Rayford Band in 2015 and continued to back up world class touring blues musicians over the last several years.

In the mid-2000s Jack reunited with his old friend and former band mate Mitch Kashmar as well as Alastair, and former Pontiax / then current AGB drummer Tom Lackner, to play local Santa Barbara, CA shows as the "KGB" (Kashmar Greene Band). Jack joined the Alastair Greene Band for shows during the last decade to fill in for current AGB bassist Jim Rankin. Jack was known far and wide as a great bass player, pool player, painter, general contractor, and friend.

Jack played what we believe to be one of, if not his last public performance on Sunday May, 26th in Boynton Beach, Florida with the Alastair Greene Band. The entire show was captured on video and can be seen HERE on YouTube.

Our hearts go out to Jack's wife and son as well as his siblings, friends, and fans.

- Team Greene
